Working conditions and salary are not the only negotiation topics during a job interview in Romania. Amidst the growing lack of specialists in the Romanian market, companies are trying to retain their qualified employees by offering them diverse benefits.
The current benefits - food vouchers, medical insuranse to private hospitals and a company phone - are no longer enough to attract and retain a qualified employee. More and more employers understand, that it's in their own interest for the employees to be in a good physical condition, that's why they provide them with subscriptions to sports clubs, massage and spa centers. There can be various theme days, organized at the office - Fruit Day, Sweets Day, Casual Dressing Day etc. Some companies conclude contracts with various stores, which offer their products at a discount for the employee of that company while other companies pay for the courses, which their employees go to as a hobby - painting, acting lessons, fotography etc.
According to a study of Romanian employers, Romanian companies pay additionally between 30 and 160 euro of monthly benefits per employee. The most additional benefits are offered by companies from the IT sector, production, financial services and retail.
Since Romania, as well as Bulgaria, faces the problem of constantly decreasing workforce, only the companies, which are ready to pay for additional employee benefits, can retain their qualified personnell, which is extremely important for a successfull business.
