Higher wages for the qualified employees

22.05.2018

A tangible increase of wages is expected in 2018 in comparison to the previous year, according to data from the economists of the Institute for Market Economics (IME). This is due to the shortage of qualified workforce on the labor market, which is a trend across Europe.

2017 can be defined as a year with high GDP growth and record employment in Bulgaria among people aged 15-64 - 68%. However, the disproportionate development of the individual regions remains as a problem for the whole country. The largest number of employees have taken the available jobs in the provinces of Sofia, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora. while Northern Bulgaria lags significantly behind in terms of newly created jobs.

Another essential difference between employees in Bulgaria is related to the level of their education. Economic growth affects the highly qualified workers, not those with low or no qualifications.
