Tsvetana Constantinescu

Tsvetana Konstantinescu from Bulgaria has worked for 10 years at IKEA Bucharest.

Tsvetana Constantinescu's family moved to Romania to find better opportunities for professional development. Her husband received a very good offer and the whole family left with him. At first, they moved to Romania in 2005, then they moved to Turkey in 2011, and in 2015 they returned to Romania, where they have settled for the time being.

She remembers how difficult it was at first, mostly because of the language and the lack of a familiar social environment. Over time, she found out that the two nations are very similar and now she no longer sees any particular differences, although one will always miss his/her homeland.

For Tsvetana, one of the first problems is the language. At work she uses English, which is increasingly more spoken in Romania. But she thinks it is important for you to speak the local language if you want to truly integrate in the society. Asked by Visa Agency to give advice to people who want to work in Romania, she says that this is a bigger country with opportunities for both business and career development. According to her observations, there are more and more Bulgarians in Bucharest, and the country is only 60 km away.

Tzvetana Konstantescu also shares a fun story of her life in Romania:

In my first attempts to order food in Romanian in the company's cafeteria, the woman who served me asked me to wait for a bit ,because she did not understand English!
